Taft Tower: A gift of love

The Taft Tower, a 29-story luxury condominium located at 2339 Taft Ave., Malate, Manila, held its topping off rites last Thursday. The choice of Feb. 14 was to signify that the last bucket of concrete or mortar hoisted, poured and in place at last crowning the structural completion of the building, came as no accident. Coming two days after the Chinese New Year of the Horse, the Taft Tower can be truly considered an enduring gift of rewarding love.

A propitious choice, indeed. For, coming off a long Asian financial crisis which began in July 1997, developer and contractor E. Ganzon, Inc. teamed up with the De la Salle University System to realize the dreams of faculty, academic and non-academic personnel of De la Salle University, students and their parents, as well as investors, to finally have their own condominium units right next to their places of work or academic pursuits. It is only fitting and proper that, at long last, as the fruit of love, as an expression of gift-giving on Valentine’s Day, De la Salle University and E. Ganzon, Inc. scheduled the topping off ceremony to begin the year with love, luck, long life, prosperity and old age.

Residential units in the Taft Tower are fully-improved in such a way that only appliances, closets and furniture are not included and options remain to be the buyer’s. A bathtub, prefabricated kitchen components, provision for hot and cold water lines, provision for cable television, individual water and electric meters, a separate lobby for residential units, and more, are standard luxury fittings.

The building is designed to have six elevators, a 24-hour security system, a fire refuge zone at the ninth floor, a fire alarm and sprinkler system, three parking levels, three commercial levels to serve the community created in the condominium building and three office levels. A full 100 percent power back-up and adequate communication infrastructure have also been anticipated for the building.
