Nine housing sites being purchased by their respective community associations of informal dwellers have receive a P49.1-million funding allocation from the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC) last month under its Community Mortgage Program (CMP) to assure their land tenure security on the said properties.
The housing sites have also been issued letters of guarantee cover by NHMFC to assure landowner-sellers of the properties that CMP loan proceeds will be released as payment for the housing sites upon compliance with the loan requirements, according to lawyer Angelico T. Salud, NHMFC president.
The proposed sites for urban poor housing lined up for CMP financing were earlier accredited, evaluated and inspected prior to the approval last month of the letters of guarantee by the NHMFC board of directors, chaired by Secretary Michael T. Defensor, concurrent presidential housing adviser and chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council, Salud reported.
Comprising a total of 1.353 family-beneficiaries, the housing sites and their corresponding CMP loan values approved, include; Christian Homeowners Association (HOA), Inc., P300,300; Project III, Barangay 26 Gingoog City Urban Poor, P7.19-million; Kamonsil HOA, Inc., P245,000; Tabing-Ilog Nangka HOA, P9.95-million.
J.M. Elegance HOA, Inc., P11.29-million; Samahang Pagkakaisa sa Aboy-Kaya HOA, Inc., P6.46-million; Bayanihan HOA of Salinas Bacoor, Inc., P4.58-million; Sama-samang Babalikat sa Lupang Pangako, Inc., (Robles Property), P140,000; and Victory Heights HOA, Inc., Phase I, P8.96-million.
The financing of the project sites is NHMFC’s contribution to the overall housing initiatives of Defensor to fast-track the security of land and housing tenure for the informal settlers under the administration of President Arroyo, Salud added.
