MANILA, Philippines — There’s no denying it — the number of motorcycle riders on the road have significantly increased in recent years. In fact, the Philippines led in motorcycle sales in Southeast Asia, posting 13.2 percent growth from 2016 to 2017.

The reason behind this need not be explained, it’s all for good measure. Traffic has been worsening and gas prices have been frequently spiking, making the compact yet sturdy vehicle a practical choice for the everyday Filipino. Note, however, that even high-profile personalities and celebrities have come to appreciate the beauty of these motorbikes. (Cue in James Reid, Jericho Rosales and Drew Arellano, among others.)

Given this, it’s important to remember that with riding comes safety and responsibility and not just convenience.
