Peugeot announces 3008 and Traveller
MANILA, Philippines - With annual sales up 8.1 percent year-on-year, Peugeot Philippines is looking to continue its commitment as the country’s only premium mainstream European brand. Tapping into the brand’s dual expertise—design and engineering—Peugeot remains on track to grow the brand’s positive word of mouth. To achieve that, Peugeot Philippines is set to unveil not one, but two important new additions to their line-up: the 3008 and Traveller both of which are expected in the next few months.
Recently, the all-new Peugeot 3008 was awarded as the European Car of the Year by 58 European journalists besting 30 other finalists. Awarded on the eve of the Geneva International Motor Show, this prestigious award joins the 20 other prizes the Peugeot 3008 has already won. It also marks the fifth Peugeot to win the Car of the Year and the first SUV honored in the history of the European CoTY prize.
“The new Peugeot 3008 SUV appeals to discerning customers who want to stand out and have new and thrilling driving experiences. Aiming to become a major contender in the compact SUV category, the new Peugeot 3008 SUV offers a unique blend of style, comfort and road handling,” said Glen Dasig, President of Peugeot’s Philippine distributor Eurobrands Distributor Inc. (EDI).
The all-new Peugeot 3008 offers a unique blend of style, comfort, and road handling. The all-new 3008 offers an intuitive and intimate driving experience thanks to the i-Cockpit motif with its compact steering wheel, 12.3-inch heads-up display, and central capacitive touchscreen console.
Nearly 100,000 customers in Europe agree with the journalists and have chosen the 3008 as their new vehicle of choice. 84 percent of buyers have opted for the Allure, GT Line, or GT contributing substantially to the upgrade to the Peugeot brand.
Manufactured in Sochaux, it received the Origine France Garantie (made in France) label.
The 3008’s win means Peugeot has received the European Car of the Year for the second time in three years. The new Peugeot 3008 is the first SUV winner since the creation of the trophy in 1964. It is also the fifth Peugeot vehicle named Car of the Year, following the 308 in 2014, the 307 in 2002, the 405 in 1988, and the 504 in 1969.
Meanwhile, the company aims to continue the surprising success of their Expert Tepee van by launching the Traveller MPV into the market. As suggested by its name, the Traveller is meant to evoke a modern vision of traveling and open spaces.
Adopting the EMP2 modular platform, the same one that underpins the award-winning 3008, the Traveller combines compact exterior dimensions with maximum roominess. With an overall length ranging from 4.6 to 5.3 meters (depending on which particular model Peugeot Philippines will bring in) and an overall height of just 1.9 meters, it can easily enter most covered car parks. Yet, it offers comfortable seating for up to 9 people and a luggage space ranging from 1,500 to 4,900 liters.
The Traveller’s assertive and elegant style takes its inspiration from Peugeot’s passenger car lineup while still meeting the space and comfort requirements of even high-end professionals and clients. And whether for doing the shopping, family trips, or going away with friends on mountain bike trips, the Traveller can adapt to all situations.
Inside, the Traveller features excellent ergonomics and comfort. The instrument panel and steering wheel are relatively vertical for the segment immersing the driver in an environment that’s somewhere between an SUV and passenger car. The pure and modern design of the driver position combines the elegance of the materials and the ergonomics of the controls, like the touch-screen which is always easy to reach and see.
“We will continue to grow the brand by making the latest products available. We will continue our commitment to our customers with our strong After Sales support. We will continue to earn the trust of our customers, our dealer partners, and the whole automotive community. This is our passion and our commitment,” the dashing Dasig added.
