Honda introduces City 1.5 E CVT Special Edition

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has announced the availability of the new City 1.5 E CVT Special Edition, which boasts new features exclusive to the Philippine market.

Over the years, the City nameplate has established itself as the bestselling vehicle in HCPI’s 13-product line-up. Recently, HCPI Research Planning & Development Team, together with a representative from Honda R&D Co., Ltd. Japan, researched on the dynamic lifestyles and vehicle usage of Filipino consumers in the present setting. Findings show that Filipinos tend to look for a child-friendly vehicle that also protects occupants from the heat and airborne allergens. This led to the development of the New City 1.5 E CVT Special Edition.         Revolving around the product concept of “Passionate and Omotenashi (Japanese for genuine hospitality),” the new City 1.5 E CVT Special Edition has added values to offer in the areas of style, health and wellness, safety, and convenience.

Style-wise, the New City 1.5 E CVT Special Edition gets an exclusive, all-new Ruby Red Pearl color as a result from the recent study. The brightness of the Ruby Red Pearl paint exudes elegance while still complementing the sporty style of the fourth-generation City. The Special Edition variant is also available in Gold Brown Metallic, and Taffeta White exterior colors.

Unique to the City 1.5 E CVT Special Edition is the application of UV Cut Glass windows for the front doors. The high performance UV-absorbent coated glass, fused with core technologies, minimizes the penetration of UV rays and Infrared lights by approximately 99 percent, which is ideal for the Philippine tropical environment.

The new City 1.5 E CVT Special Edition is equipped with a speed-sensing Auto Door Lock system that enables the vehicle to lock automatically upon reaching a speed level of 15kph, and to intelligently unlock all doors when the shift lever is set to Park Mode (P).

In addition, the key fob of the Special Edition consists of a Panic Button. Long pressing the Panic Button enables the vehicle to emit a loud alarm through the horns, and to flash its headlights and park lights to call for immediate attention.

To further promote the health and wellness of passengers, each purchase of the New City 1.5 E CVT Special Edition comes with a free Sharp Plasmacluster with Ion Technology. Known for its air purifying technology, the plasmacluster reduces airborne allergens and microbes through increased number of positive and negative ions, helps remove unwanted odors, and moisturizes the skin when constantly used.

Under the hood of the New City 1.5 E CVT Special Edition is a 1.5 Liter i-VTEC engine with a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) developed under Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology. The new CVT allows seamless gear shifting, and provides quick throttle response for maximum fuel efficiency. It is also equipped with the Eco Assist system, which features the ECON mode that controls the engine, drive-by-wire, transmission, and air-conditioning performance. Fuel efficient driving is detected once the eco-coaching eco lamp is lit.

And in line with Honda’s environmental vision of a sustainable environment, the New City 1.5 E CVT Special Edition joins the rest of HCPI’s all Euro 4-compliant line-up. The certification of Euro 4-compliance translates to reduced emissions of harmful pollutants that prevent ozone depletion and global warming. Honda continues to promote and guarantee their customers that their vehicles have very minimal effect on the environment.

The New City 1.5 E CVT Special Edition is now available in Honda dealerships nationwide with a suggested retail price of P819,000.
