8-year-old raffle winner brings home VW New Beetle

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Following a simple ceremony, Automobile Central Enterprise, Inc. (ACEI), the official importer and distributor of Volkswagen cars in the country, formally turned over the new 21st Century Beetle to eight-year-old Cherub Nikolai Bedaño.

Cherub was the lucky winner drawn out of thousands of raffle entries during the People’s Car Celebration in Greenbelt Park. The raffle culminated the re-launch of the Volkswagen brand and highlighted Europe’s biggest automaker’s much-awaited return in Manila.

“We think that a young 8-year old winning the 21st century Volkswagen Beetle is very symbolic. The boy certainly represents aspiration and optimism,” says JP S. Orbeta, president of Automobile Central Enterprise, Inc. (ACEI), the official importer of Volkswagen passenger cars in the country.

Cherub, who hails from Marikina, was with his family when he toured through Volkswagen’s two-day public display in Greenbelt Park, Makati. He was one of the several thousands of participants who registered through www.timeforvolkswagen.com. Each participant had to journey through the seven exhibit areas of the Volkswagen People’s Car Celebration to find the clues to the trivia questions.

“We feel very fortunate to have won in the raffle, and like all kids, Cherub is ecstatic about winning. I’m sure he will grow up with fond memories about this experience,” said Bella Bedaño, Cherub’s mother.

The Volkswagen BGC showroom is located at 28th Street City Center, Bonifacio Global City. For more information on Volkswagen or to request for a test drive, you may call +632 4594562, or visit www.volkswagen.com.ph or email [email protected].
