Nissan continues to support post-Yolanda rebuilding efforts

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has donated three Nissan Navara 4x4 GTX pickups to the UN World Food Program (WFP) for its operations to assist people affected by super typhoon Haiyan (locally known as Yolanda) in the Philippines. The contribution of the three Nissan trucks is part of the company’s continuing effort to support programs that can help rebuild the lives of those affected by the typhoon in the Philippines.

With this in-kind vehicle donation, Nissan has completed its Â¥20 million pledge to help victims of Haiyan. Soon after super typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines, Nissan had initially donated Â¥10 million in cash to the NGO Japan Platform, which carried out urgent rescue efforts.

The three vehicles were delivered at a ceremonial handover at Ivisan, Capiz on April 1. This is where WFP currently is administering a Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program at the Rural Health Unit. The ceremony was coordinated by WFP Philippines and joined by Nissan representatives, including Kenji Naito, president and managing director of Nissan Philippines, Inc., the newly formed Nissan national sales company in the Philippines.

“We hope that the support from Nissan and WFP will bring some of the aid that is needed to the affected families of typhoon Yolanda so that they can rebuild their lives and start a new beginning,” said Naito.
