Cavitex starts road enhancement

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC), concessionaire and operator of Cavitex, has started the planned enhancement of the roadway last Feb 24. The project of resurfacing Cavitex R1 (formerly called Coastal Road) is part of its heavy maintenance regime to extend its life. “We will be using Stone Mastic Asphalt, a durable surfacing material that is deformation-resistant, suitable for heavily trafficked roads,” said Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation CEO Jose Luigi L. Bautista. The asphalt overlay will stretch from the MIA Road intersection and end at the Bacoor exit, and is expected to be finished before the start of the school year.

CIC has prepared a comprehensive traffic management plan and information drive for motorists awareness of the enhancement. “We are aware that the ground works will temporarily inconvenience our motorists, and we shall endeavor to manage traffic with two lanes open in both directions at any given time and increase deployment of highway personnel to properly guide the motorists. Advisories are prepared to be published on print and on our social network sites so motorists are informed in different media. We plan to deliver the benefits of faster travel, safer road, and less stress for vehicle parts, hence reduced maintenance cost for our road users,” Bautista added.

Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) through CIC, will undertake the P120 million project with the Philippine Reclamation Authority. “We aim to remain consistent to Metro Pacific’s culture of delivering excellent customer service. This resurfacing project will deliver better traction and ride quality for the motorists for a more enjoyable experience,” said Ramon S. Fernandez, Group Chief Executive Officer of MPTC.

PRA General Manager and CEO Peter Anthony A. Abaya added, “We strongly support this project, recognizing that Cavitex is a major corridor for trade and tourism of Cavite, Laguna and Batangas, which greatly contributes to nation building.”
