MANILA, Philippines - Ford Philippines kicked-off the year the same way it ended 2013 – with record sales – as the company today announced its best-ever January performance with overall retail sales climbing 31 percent year-over-year to 1,076 units.
Ford’s record January performance was fueled by strong demand for the all-new Ranger, new Fiesta, and all-new Explorer nameplates.
The all-new Ranger continued to be Ford’s best-selling nameplate in the Philippines with January sales soaring to 130 percent year-over-year to 409 units. The Ford Ranger Wildtrak was awarded 2013-2014 Truck of the Year and Best 4X4 Pickup Truck by the Car Awards Group, Inc. (CAGI) in January, underscoring its wide-acclaim and appeal in the country.
“Strong demand across the country proves how much Filipino consumers admire the class-defining all-new Ranger, and we’re proud of the recognition by CAGI as it highlights our passion and commitment to reach more new-to-Ford customers in the Philippines,†said Kay Hart, managing director, Ford Philippines.
The popular Ford Fiesta saw retail sales jump 47 percent to 245 units in January, driven by healthy demand for its 1.0L EcoBoost variant. Ford’s revolutionary EcoBoost engine technology helps the downsized 1.0L engine deliver the power and performance of a traditional 1.6L engine with fuel economy gains of up to 20 percent. In the same CAGI awards, the Ford Fiesta Titanium Sedan was hailed 2013-2014 Premium Subcompact of the Year.
Demand for the technology packed all-new Ford Focus remained strong in January with retail sales of 82 units.
Ford’s SUVs contributed to the strong start in 2014. The Ford Explorer delivered sales that soared more than four-fold from the same month last year to 115 units, while the popular Ford Everest family SUV recorded deliveries of 196 units in January.
The company recently unveiled the latest addition to its One Ford vehicle line-up in the Philippines with the introduction of the much-anticipated all-new Ford EcoSport compact SUV. Customer deliveries will start in April.
