DETROIT — Ford Motor Co. is introducing the 2015 F-150 pickup truck Monday at the North American International Auto Show.
It's the 12th generation of the truck, which was first introduced in 1948. Back then it was mainly used by farmers, but sales grew as it was adopted by construction workers, loggers, oil and gas drillers and families who needed to pull trailers or boats. Ford has sold more than 33 million F-Series trucks, including the F-150 and its heavy-duty cousins like the F-350.
Last year, the company sold more than 763,000 pickups in the U.S., making the F-Series the best-selling vehicle in the country for the 32nd year.
