Yamaha Motor Philippines conducts CSR activity

MANILA, Philippines - Twenty volunteers from Yamaha Motor Philippines, Inc. (YMPH) along with the HR/IT General Manager, Marilou Galit, visited San Fernando Elementary School in Malvar, Batangas recently to join the Brigada Eskwela Campaign in its cause to promote a better and improved environment for the pupils.

The group, composed of employees from different departments, was welcomed by faculty members with a short program hosted by the Grade 1 section adviser, Virgie Micua.

Russel Perez, the school head, spoke about how helping each other could benefit the parties involved in terms of socio-economic growth and development in the form of a fable. YMPH turned over ten desktop computers, two wall fans and painting materials,

Selected Grade 5 pupils performed a folk dance number to the delight of the audience which also included parents and some barangay officials. It was then that Ms. Galit was asked to share a few words to everyone inside the room. With a gesture imitating that of the children’s dance moves moments earlier, she started with a big smile to address the crowd. She mentioned that in May last year, YMPH also donated twenty monoblock chairs with armrest and a wall fan to the school and continues its support this year through providing computers, with the hope that all these be put to good use.

To energize the team for their task ahead, snacks were prepared after the program. Armed with rugs and paint brushes, YMPH employees went through all tables and chairs covering the field outside the classrooms. The group of employees assisted by teachers was raring to go and blitzed through dozens just before it was time to go.

No activity is complete without taking mementos—posing with Mr. Perez and Ms. Galit, faculty members and volunteers got their photos taken to cap the day. It may have been tiring for some, but coming to San Fernando Elementary School to make a difference and leave a mark was definitely worth it.
