Chevrolet Sonic gets its game on

MANILA, Philippines - Chevrolet Philippines’ entry to the largest segment in the car industry – the sub-compact car category takes a huge stride as it achieves a 169 percent sales growth from January to May this 2013. The significant sales increase can be an attributed to the growing acceptance and support of the Filipino market for the Chevrolet brand, products and services. With the rising demand for Chevrolet products, more investors trust the brand and have contributed in the expansion of the Chevrolet dealer network nationwide. TCCCI is expecting to close the year with 23 operating dealerships.

“2013 has been a very good year for Chevrolet. We have successfully launched three new products late 2012 that are warmly accepted by the Filipino market. The Chevrolet Colorado and Trailblazer flexed its muscles earlier on and generated overwhelming sales outputs from the day it was launched and has continuously sustained its robust sales results. The Chevrolet Sonic slowly but surely made it way to the hearts of the sub-compact car buyers. April and May were the break out months of the Sonic as it increased its sales more than double. We are truly grateful to those who are continuously patronizing our brand,”  said TCCCI- Chevrolet Philippines president, Atty. Albert Arcilla.

The Chevrolet Sonic is a sub-compact car that comes in two astonishing body styles – four-door sedan and five-door hatchback (both with six-speed automatic and five-speed manual transmissions). The sedan has a sophisticated and upscale appearance while the hatchback projects a more aggressive and sporty look. To attest to the outstanding design of the Sonic, JD Power Associates USA recognized the Chevrolet sub-compact car with the Highest Ranked Vehicle Appeal Award in its category.

The Sonicis equipped with a 1.4L Ecotec engine with double Continuous-Variable Cam-phase (CVC) that provides efficient power and quality driving performance. The Sonic can deliver a maximum power output of 100ps @ 6000rpm and 130Nm of torque @ 4,000rpm. Its improved fuel injectors combined with high-tech oxygen sensors optimizes fuel injection ratios that minimize emissions. Built with “return-less” fuel rail and electronically controlled EGR valve that makes sure all the fuel that circulates in the engine are smartly utilized and maximized. Matched with a six-speed automatic transmission, the Chevy Sonic is a vehicle of choice for gas consumption-conscious car buyers. In its recent fuel run conducted by Roadwise (a third party fuel economy testing agency) and observed by the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP), the Sonic was able to generate a highway driving condition best of 18 km/L.

Apart from the amazing exterior/interior design and commendable engine performance, the Sonic is loaded with a wealth of high-tech features such as: Digital Driver Information Center that provides useful data like trip-meter, average fuel trip consumption rating, average speed and estimated distance left that the fuel can cover, steering mounted audio controls for easy audio tuning and digital connectivity through Bluetooth, USB and AUX ports.

The Chevrolet Sonic campaign carries the tagline “Game On” because the car is made for on the rise individuals that have an attitude of facing life’s challenges head on. He or she never backs down on opportunities to lead and takes pride on being the go-to-guy of the team.

Aligned with the campaign, Chevrolet developed a Facebook page dedicated to the Chevrolet Sonic “Game On” theme. The page contains trending “Game On” related photos, videos and topicswhich keeps the target market engaged on the site. Amazing prizes are also in-store for those who will participate on posted trivia games. The campaign aims to promote the Game On attitude and solidify the Chevrolet Sonic as the vehicle that embodies the said characteristic.
