Hyundai announces availabilty of Accent Hatch CRDi

Manny N. de los Reyes - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai in the Philippines, announced recently the availability of the newest model in its fast-growing line-up, the Accent Hatch CRDi.

The Accent CRDi VGT hatchback is the only hatchback in its class to be powered by a diesel engine.

It’s a new 1.6-liter common-rail direct-injection (CRDi) diesel engine that delivers a maximum power output of 128 ps at 4000 rpm and maximum torque of 26.5 kg-m between 1900-2750 rpm—giving it the best power and torque in its class—made possible by state-of-the-art Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) technology.

Style-wise, the Accent hatchback, which rides on a 2570mm wheelbase, is pretty much identical to its sedan sibling from the front bumper to the rear doors. Even the distinctive character line that spans the length of the car is identical.

The only change is from the edge of the rear doors—gone is the black garnish that adorns the D-pillar slope of the sedan’s roofline; in its place is a quarter window typical of that found in most hatchbacks.

The rear end of the sedan is terminated more abruptly to accommodate shorter rear fenders and the rear hatch, which is bracketed by tall, vertical taillight clusters on either side. A spoiler mounted on the rear edge of the roof adds a dash of sportiness to the car.

Like its Accent sedan sibling, the hatchback rides on a MacPherson strut front suspension and coupled torsion beam rear suspension, which gives it ample stability in city driving. Braking is via ventilated front disc brakes and solid rear disc brakes with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) to provide you optimal stopping power and control when emergency situations call for it.

There are two variants available locally: Accent Hatch 1.6-liter DSL 6-speed manual transmission and Accent Hatch 1.6-liter DSL 4-speed automatic transmission.

The 1.6-liter DSL 6-speed manual transmission variant is priced at P768,000. It comes with 175/70R-14 tires on 14-inch steel rims with full wheel caps, a driver-side airbag, steering wheel audio control, power side mirrors, and keyless entry with alarm. It has a tuner/CD/MP3 audio system with USB, Aux and Bluetooth connectivity as well as an Eco Mode with shift indicator to tell you the precise moment to shift for optimum fuel efficiency.

The range-topping 1.6-liter DSL 4-speed automatic transmission model, on the other hand, retails for P868,000. In addition to the manual variant’s features, it adds 195/50R-16 tires on 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lamps, dual airbags, leather steering wheel with audio control, sideview mirror-mounted signal lamps, and electric heated power side mirrors.

The Accent Hatch CRDi is now available at all Hyundai dealerships nationwide. It comes in Clean Blue, Carbon Gray, Veloster Red, Sleek Silver, and Crystal White.
