Honda launches 2 8-seaters:Honda Odyssey

MANILA, Philippines - Following the recent successive launches of the latest generation models of the Honda City, Civic, Jazz Special Edition and CRV, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) is keeping the momentum going this Dragon Year with yet another two new vehicles that were recently introduced to the Philippine market, one of which is the Honda Odyssey.

Widely considered among the best minivans in the US market for many years running, this award-winning people-carrier—designed and manufactured in America for this latest iteration—will finally be available to Filipino families.

The Odyssey will be locally sold in the 3.5 EX-L variant, that will run on a 24-valve, 3.5-liter i-VTEC V6 engine with variable cylinder management (VCM) that promises to deliver superb performance alongside high fuel efficiency and low carbon emissions. The minivan will utilize a 5-speed automatic transmission, with horsepower pegged at 257ps at 5,700 rpm and a maximum torque of 35.4 kg-m at 4,800 rpm.

The Odyssey was developed as an ‘Ultimate Family Vehicle’ and therefore boasts outstanding roominess, efficiency, versatility, and safety. The exterior features a signature ‘lightning bolt’ side profile that creates a dynamic and distinctive appearance. Its bold, projector-like headlights, rear roofline spoiler and 17-inch alloy wheels make it look sleek and elegant. And to complement its looks, this minivan makes use of a unit-body construction and independent suspension to ensure ‘car-like’ comfort and driving dynamics.

Geared towards accommodating family members of all ages (including children and the elderly), the Odyssey offers one-touch power sliding doors for the passenger cabin, and a ‘power tailgate’ that allows you to conveniently open and close the trunk at a push of a button. Meanwhile, the interior provides three rows of plush leather seats that could accommodate seven passengers plus a driver, with generous sedan-like legroom in each row. It also has tri-zone auto climate control, a power sunroof, and built-in window shades available.

The Odyssey boasts versatile seating configurations that can easily be manipulated to your liking. Should there be any extra cargo space necessary, the 3rd-row ‘magic seats’ can be easily folded with a pull of a strap and collapsed into a flat floor. And should there still be a need for additional space, all seats in the second row may also be removed.

Furthermore, the Odyssey gives high consideration to occupant safety, and protects the family via its Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure, a Honda-exclusive design that effectively absorbs impact energy in frontal collisions. It also has side curtain airbags with a roll-over sensor on all three rows, and an Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) for the front passenger seat.

This feature-packed minivan comes in Taffeta White, Crystal Black and Dark Amber. Its suggested retail price is P2,600,000.
