Team Seaoil Extreme 97-Octane takes 1st & 2nd in recent Philippine Autocross Series race

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Seaoil-DarkSide Racing Team entered the recently held Philippine Autocross Series race at Filinvest Corporate City in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, and took home three trophies, including a win courtesy of Marvin Montecillo in the Honda class.

Driving for the team that weekend were Jeff Borja, Mike Pabustan, Mark Borja, and Marvin Montecillo, supported by Seaoil Philippines, 3M Car Care, Autotechnika-Dynapak Dynamometers, Denso sparkplugs, H&R Springs, XYZ Sport Suspension, Ultra Racing, A-Toy Customs, Motech Service, and dragracingpinoy.com.

The morning started off disastrously for the team as Marvin’s engine suffered a catastrophic failure after he accidentally over-revved it past 10,000rpm on his 3rd timed run. The car had just come off a win in the Honda class during the previous typhoon-stricken event of the series last June 19.

With heavier spare cars on hand, the team quickly regrouped and jumped into the vehicles for the afternoon sessions. With the heat getting intense and time running out, Jeff quickly finished his runs in a stock-engine Honda Jazz to grab a podium place in the stock B category along with Mars Delos Reyes and Alex Bautista.

Of course, the highlight of the day would come near the end as all drivers decided to run in the heavier sedan racecars, and face off in the open class and Honda class against the much lighter racecars. Despite the setback, the drivers pushed on and achieved unexpected results. As Jeff Borja took a podium place behind Mato Tan and Mikko Briones in the Open-B class; Marvin Montecillo and Mark Borja finished an impressive 1st and 2nd places in the Honda class to mark their first ever one-two finish.
