Honda Accord wins 25th Car and Driver 10 Best Cars Award
MANILA, Philippines - The Honda Accord has been named as one of the U.S. Car and Driver Magazine’s 10 Best Cars for 2011. In Car and Driver Magazine’s 29 years of recognizing remarkable cars in the U.S. market, the Honda Accord has made it to the 10 Best Cars list for 25 times, which is more than any other vehicle in the award’s history.
According to the magazine’s editors, “The Accord remains inscrutably excellent. It manages to combine all the practical virtues you need in a family sedan –– plenty of interior space, lots of available infotainment and trim choices, a quiet and relaxed ride, subdued engines, and effortless transmissions –– with a fluid chassis that urges a driver to wring it out on back roads and off-ramps.”
The Honda Accord is a mid-size sedan that has been well accepted globally, particularly in the U.S. market. It was the first Japanese car to be produced in the U.S. back in 1982 and was also the best selling Japanese car for 15 years (1982-1997). And now with sales reaching over 18 million from 160 countries, the Honda Accord has been revered in the international scene for delivering combined value, performance and economy in one complete package.
Locally, the Honda Accord has likewise captured the discriminating tastes of the Philippine market. Recognizing the exceptional value it offers, the Honda Accord has been the preferred choice of those with passion for excellence. Last May, Honda introduced the latest model of the Accord. The 2011 Accord comes with bolder and more aggressive styling, thanks to its refreshed front grille and bumper designs. It bears with it that distinct commanding character where ever it goes. In dealing with the demands of modern times, the Accord skillfully lives up to the challenge as its 3.5-liter variant not only delivers maximum power of 275 ps at 6200 rpm but is also capable of good fuel economy. Through its Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) technology, fuel mileage is optimized as it cleverly closes down cylinders when not needed. VCM deactivates and activates cylinders depending on one’s driving condition, to help avoid fuel wastage and minimize deposit of harmful emissions. All these and more makes the Honda Accord designed to deliver excellent driving experience beyond compare.
