MANILA, Philippines - When a bunch of Philippine STAR employees who also happen to be serious health buffs learned of Hyundai’s Run for a Cause, there was no hesitation – they simply knew that they had to be part of it. Which is why a couple of weeks ago, a group of 15 Philippine STAR employees led by Research Group Head Julie Reyes approached this writer, asking for registration procedures for the historic run. Clueless on all things health-related but well-connected in automotive circles, I called on Maria Lenavi Ramos, Hyundai’s Media and Marketing Operations Manager, to ask her how our crew of merry runners could participate in Hyundai’s 10th anniversary kick-off activity. Needless to say, she gladly accommodated them and last Saturday, April 2, they participated in what is one of the most well attended corporate-sponsored runs in recent memory.
Which brings us to the here and now. After indulging in their favorite exercise along with 24,000 other participants, the 15 STAR Troopers (which is how we fondly refer to ourselves in this group of companies), have also contributed to the growth and development of four very worthy advocacies, namely – the Gawad Kalinga Center for Social Innovation, St. Scholatica’s Priory, Habitat for Humanity and Haribon Foundation – the beneficiaries of the Run for a Cause.
“The Hyundai Run for a Cause is the first-ever automotive-sponsored run in the country. It kicks off the 10th anniversary celebration of Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI). The Hyundai R.U.N. is an acronym for Responsibility, Unity, and Nation Building – signifying not only HARI’s strides towards automotive leadership but also its underlying thrust to be a Responsible corporate citizen working in Unity with its stakeholders towards Nation building. Furthermore, the RUN marks HARI’s own historic milestone of a decade of service to the nation, founded on ideals of sustainability, celebrated in this one big momentous campaign to push forward Hyundai Motor Company’s Innovations for Humanity. Hyundai’s vision to provide Innovations for Humanity is founded on five core strategies of respect for human values, global orientation, customer satisfaction, technology innovation, and cultural creation, the Hyundai Run for a Cause plans to propagate HARI’s PRO-Environment, PRO-People Empowerment, PRO-Poor, and PRO-Health and Well-being advocacies as it teams up with its partners in sustainability: Gawad Kalinga Center for Social Innovation, St. Scholastica’s Priory, Habitat for Humanity, and Haribon Foundation,” explained Ramos.
No doubt, HARI’s laudable project – the company’s biggest so far in terms of public participation – has given the company a great start in their 10th anniversary celebrations. Count on this fast-growing company to reach out to the public and involve them even more as their 10th anniversary continues to roll forward throughout 2011.
