Eastern awards the Best Vintage Bike in Cebu

MANILA, Philippines - Eastern Communications recently organized a vintage bike contest for Cebuanos as part of its recent participation in the three-day Biketorbest organized by the Cebu chapter of the STAR Touring Biker on October 29-31. Victor Canales, a 42-year-old auto mechanic, was declared the winner and awarded a trophy and P5,000 in cash. Canales’s 1954 Triumph, which was in good running form to this day, had been given to him by his father, also a mechanic. The contest was open to all Cebuanos with bikes dating from 1965 or older. Criteria included authenticity in restoration, degree of function, age, and overall appearance. Eastern gave out this award to commemorate its 130 years of service in the Philippines, particularly in Cebu.
