Ford-TRS wins PPCC
MANILA, Philippines - The Ford Focus-TRS racing team came out victorious after dominating the Philippine Production Car Championships, winning 8 out of 11 races of the 2010 season besting different car makes and racing teams. The team, which is supported by Ford Racing, Castrol, Goodyear Racing, Standard Insurance, OMP, Discovery Suites, DC Shoes, Coke Zero, Oakley, Aguila Auto Glass, 3M, C!Magazine, Dupont, Starbright Bodykits, Ultra Racing, Speedlab, Toptul, Rota Wheels and K&N, became the benchmark of the competition by being the fastest the whole weekend. TRS driver Bjorn Ongtiabok clocked in a record setting 2:24.8 lap time for the PPCC, which is more or less 3 seconds faster against the other teams.
The team composed of British national Sean Redpath, Singaporean Marcus Wong, executive Bobby Horrigan and champion drifter and Sunday pole sitter Bjorn Ongtiabok, Top Driver Challenge winner and Saturday pole sitter Alvin Ng. Wong won race 9 and 11 while Redpath won race 10. The team did not come out unscathed. Series points leader Sean Redpath was taken out on race 11, after the black flagged Dean Joson, on his pit in lap, bumped him out of the race. On the other hand, Alvin Ng was forced to retire by Stefan Ramirez after he lost his brakes on his Honda Race Car.
After the dramatic turn of events on race 11 of the PPCC, the Automobile Association of the Philippines decided to cancel race 12 due to dangerous driving and numerous crashes that included the much hyped and documented Chevy-Honda crash. Ford Focus-TRS driver, Marcus Wong and Sean Redpath took the champion and the first runner up crown respectively.
