MANILA, Philippines - Now it’s your turn to play in the mud. Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) brought out the heavy equipment to pave the way for the latest edition of its popular pickup, the Isuzu D-MAX Radikal Edition.
The D-MAX Radikal leaves in its wake an off-road obstacle course that any pickup diehard should not miss. The test drive was launched in Iloilo City where the Motoring media was one of the first groups to give it a run. According to Rene A.C. Tagamolila, manager of Isuzu Iloilo Corporation, this is the first time a 4x4 event was held in Iloilo City. It was quite well, radical, considering that the offroad site was in a vacant lot right behind SM City Mall.
So you wonder where you can catch this rare opportunity to test drive the D-MAX on a professionally-designed off-road course? Since the D-MAX Radikal edition hits the dealership showrooms this month, it’s the best time to take it out on a spin – or a failed climb recovery, a hill descent, a mud pit drive-thru, a hill ascent recovery, a rock crawl, and other radical off-road driving tests such as elephant holes, cross axle, and camber climb and descent. You will drive through all that while a two-liter water tank is perched on the hood to show that even on such a rough terrain the ride in the D-MAX is still smooth. Since when did taking a pick-up truck straight from the showroom for a test drive sounded this exhilarating? Never. Until the D-MAX Radikal came along.
As how IPC President Ryoji Yamazaki puts it, “The new Radikal edition makes the already attractive D-MAX pickup even more appealing to those looking for powerful, durable and dependable workhorses that are also stylish enough for urban use. We’re confident that the 4x4 test-drive events that we’ve prepared for our valued customers will prove this.”
You can test drive the Radikal in these cities during the following dates: Isuzu Bacolod on July 23-24 (BREDCO on Simplicio Palanca Ave. corner Rizal St. in Bacolod City); Isuzu Cagayan de Oro on July 30-31 (SM City on Masterson Ave. corner Gran Via St. in Pueblo de Oro); and Isuzu Davao on August 7-8 (SM City at the Future Development Site on Quimpo Blvd. in Davao City).
The Radikal-edition package is available on the Boondock 4x4 and the 4x4 LS. Both will now sport under-grille covers, taillamp guards, bed liners, scuff plates, and interior floor and keyhole illumination. The Boondock 4x4 Radikal comes with Euro-design roll bars and a multifunction clinometer. A navigation-ready 2-DIN audio/video head unit that features a seven-inch touch-screen display, 5.1 digital surround sound system, and iPod and Bluetooth connectivity is thrown in to make sure you get to play your off-road driving soundtrack in full blast. Meanwhile, a new instrument cluster graphic with orange illumination, sporty over-fenders, limited slip differential, cup holders for the center console, and bed liner (on limited units only), are on the 4x4 LT standard edition.
