Mazda6 Zoom-Zoom Evolution Unfolds at MIAS 2010

-

MANILA, Philippines - The new Mazda6 is set to excite car enthusiast and spectators alike as it unveils for the first time at the 2010 Manila International Auto Show. Mazda’s latest chapter in its Zoom-Zoom evolution will be the highlight of the Mazda display at the event where the car manufacturer will claim the biggest display space for its complete line-up. The new Mazda6 promises to raise the bar of an already heightened sporty styling and handling refinement for a truly unique driving experience.

“The Mazda6 exudes all the sportiness expected of a Mazda model coupled with an even stronger premium identity,” said Steven Tan, Vice-president for Sales and Marketing, Mazda Philippines. “It truly is a Zoom Zoom car and no better choice for customers who value individuality and style. We are truly excited to welcome the New Mazda6 to our expanding Mazda lineup this year,” Tan added.

Now, more than ever, the Mazda design team has set to evolve the Mazda6 by highlighting its strengths and enhancing its safety performance and environmental compatibility. Because one of Mazda6’s key strengths is its styling, the exterior design combines athleticism – a key attribute of all Mazda models – with exquisiteness that reflects Japanese aesthetics to create a distinctive personality that appeals to mature tastes. Based on a “bold and exquisite” concept, it makes the car instantly recognizable as a member of the Mazda family.

Greater Sportiness and a Clearer Premium Identity

The new Mazda6, alongside its expected dynamic and sporty look, covered greater refinement throughout the car for a clearer premium identity befitting a CD-car. Mazda incorporated the new family face into the exterior design, blending it with the pre-facelift Mazda6’s acclaimed, striking frontal appearance.

In adopting the new family face, Mazda needed to balance the sportiness and refinement expected of the Mazda6 in the most attractive way possible upon the base formed by the existing design. In the design development, therefore, Mazda strove to express the new family identity in the front face while retaining the solidity conveyed by the fascia of the existing Mazda6 and the beauty, strength, and tension conveyed by the existing Mazda6’s simple contours.

As for handling and ride quality, Mazda refined and optimized an extensive range of parts for gentler, more confidence-inspiring responses and better handling stability during high-speed straight-line driving and to suppress vibration for a smoother ride.

An Outstanding Powertrain

Mazda carried forward the proven 2.5-litre petrol engine of the pre-facelift Mazda6, refining it for even nimbler, more powerful performance and great eco-friendliness. The MZR 2.5 inline-four, DOHC, 16-valve engine is distinguished by compactness and efficiency. A sequential-valve timing (S-VT) system adjusts the valve-opening and valve-closing timing for optimal operation at all engine speeds. A variable induction system maximizes intake efficiency to further heighten output and torque. The results are maximum output of 172Ps at 6,000rpm and maximum torque of 228Nm at 4,000rpm. The Mazda6 carries with it a five-speed Activematic transmission.

The side view includes newly designed 18-inch aluminum wheels with bold, strong-looking spokes that communicate dynamism and high performance. The New Mazda6 is available in Clear Water Blue Metallic (new), Sunlight Silver Metallic, Black Mica, and Crystal White Pearl Mica.

You may catch the new Mazda6 along with the rest of the fantastic Mazda line-up at the Manila International Auto Show on April 15 to 18 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila.
