Surpassing Brand Expectation

MANILA, Philippines - The European New Car Assessment Programme, or more popularly known as the Euro NCAP, offers the motoring public – both the automotive industry and drivers themselves – with a sensible and independent evaluation of the safety performance of several popular cars in Europe.

Latest surveys in Europe have proven that one of the main factors that influence a buyer’s choice of vehicle is a brand’s reliability. And with the most recent Euro NCAP results that the organization released on November 25, 2009, it revealed that some brands can really surprise, toppling even luxury car brands that put a premium on car safety.

Chevrolet, with the new Chevrolet Cruze, has evidently shown that the company’s safety engineers have made impressive investments in safety. This new compact sedan received a five-star mark in Euro NCAP’s new overall rating, having a nearly-perfect Adult Occupant score of 96%. More notable is that the Chevrolet Cruze is the only car that has achieved maximum points in frontal offset and side impact crash tests ever since the Euro NCAP started offering crash test ratings in 1997. With this, Dr. Michiel van Ratingen, the Secretary General of Euro NCAP, congratulated Chevrolet for having a laudable level of safety performance, which even surpassed its European and Japanese counterparts.
