Foton and the Filipinos, hand in hand in providing relief to "Ondoy" victims

MANILA, Philippines - Foton Motor Philippines (FMP) is not only committed to providing Filipinos with high quality and affordable commercial vehicles. As a member of the community, FMP is also focused on its social responsibility by helping those who are in need. This was visibly demonstrated after the onslaught of Typhoon Ondoy when most parts of Metro Manila were left several feet underwater.

Last September 27, 2009, headed by FMP President Mr. Rommel L. Sytin, Foton launched its relief operations to rescue the victims of the natural calamity. A team was immediately organized to purchase and pack relief goods where it would be transported to the affected areas through the Foton Service Trucks. The relief operations team of FMP was plying the streets of Marikina, Pasig, and Cainta taking on the flood waters for four days.

Among the fleet of Foton trucks used during the relief operations were the Foton 4x4, and 6-wheeler dump trucks. With its high ground clearance, big wheels, and high carrying capacity the vehicle efficiently went in and out the affected areas providing tons of relief goods and other necessities to the victims of Ondoy’s wrath. Families that needed to be evacuated to a dryer place were also made in no time. Persistent with its goal in rescuing lives, the hard terrain or the high waters did not stop the Foton Dumptruck from doing its job.

The same resilience can also be observed with the residents of the community as they simply refuse to remain as mere victims. Donations of food, water, money and service poured in from everywhere as heavy as the rains during the height of the storm. Even those torn by Ondoy helped out in the rescue and relief of the less fortunate without remorse to their own well-being. The unmistakable demonstration of the famed bayanihan spirit made the rescue operation a success.
