On land or sea, Polk Audio is designed to perform
Polk Audio, one of the world’s trusted names in audio technology, is set to fire up the local market with the new Mobile Monitor Series, an innovative family of full-range, component and subwoofer mobile audio speakers that combine thrilling audio performance with smaller, more lightweight form factors suitable for virtually any car or marine application.
“Today’s consumer lifestyles demand a compelling audio experience anywhere or everywhere the listener happens to be, whether at home, on the road or even on the open seas,” states Manoj Budhrani of Powertrip, the exclusive distributors of Polk Audio and Video products in the Philippines. “With the new Mobile Monitor series, consumers can enjoy their favorite music anywhere, conveniently, accessibly, and with the clarity, resolution and impact they’ve come to expect from Polk,” adds Budhrani.
The new Mobile Monitor series consists of six full-range systems, three component speakers and nine subwoofers, with three systems created for marine applications. Each model features an application-specific design that extracts maximum audio fidelity from its intended environment. The new 6”x9” full-range model, the 3-way MM691, exemplifies Polk’s visionary innovations throughout the line. Top-line materials such as Neodymium Ferrite Boron (NdFeB) motor structures, carbon composite baskets and honeycomb-woven glass composite cones have been employed to provide lightweight and rigid structural integrity under virtually any traveling conditions. The result is distortion-free, high-end audio fidelity that makes for a perfect mobile audio upgrade.
The new Mobile Monitor subwoofers also put the emphasis on innovation, with new form factors that reduce depth and weight, and fit into virtually any mobile or marine application. Models like the new 10-inch MM1040 employ newly-developed polymer woofer cones and butyl rubber surrounds that have been designed to prevail over the rigors of harsh automotive environments.
New high-temperature copper voice coils for the MM series subwoofers can withstand the most rigorous environmental conditions, while maintaining extremely low distortion for outstanding bass punch and distortion-free output, even at extreme listening levels. Nickel-plated, heavy-duty input terminals can accommodate high-end speaker cables of up to 8 AWG, or twisted pairs of 12 AWG.
The MM Ultra Marine models have been designed with a contemporary look that can withstand the sun, salt and humidity conditions that define the day-to-day duty of a high-quality marine speaker. For example, the 6.5” MM651UM features a completely sealed front design that prevents water intrusion, while a sealed crossover assembly built into the back of the magnet eliminates the need for a second assembly that might be vulnerable to the elements. The stainless steel, heavy-duty input terminals will not corrode or tarnish under marine conditions, and all three of the new marine models have been decisively proven sea-worthy, with over 600 hours of salt, fog and UV testing – the most rigorous testing in the business.
