HIDDEN AGENDA -

S.C. Kymco Pilipinas, the Philippine distributor of Kymco scooters and motorcycles, is gearing up for an exciting second half of the year.

The company recently held a line-off ceremony for the new Kymco Free LX with Chiu-Chieh Huang, Assistant Division Manager for Production and Ted Cheng of Kymco Taiwan in attendance. The ceremony marks the inauguration of the assembly line of the new Free LX model which augments the current motorcycles being produced by the company.

Manuel Sta. Cruz, president of S.C. Kymco Pilipinas, stated that the Kymco brand in the country will be further strengthened this year with the new models that the company is lining up for 2007, which will include the new Dink 150 maxi-scooter and the Nexxon 125 sports underbone motorcycle in addition to the Free LX. These models add new excitement to the current Kymco model line-up that includes the Cevira 110, AXR 110 and various scooter models.

Sta. Cruz also hinted at the possibility of a joint venture between S.C. Kymco Pilipinas and Kymco Taiwan within the year. He added that the tie-up will not only expedite the introduction of more Kymco models in the country but will greatly improve the technical and logistic support for local Kymco motorcycle owners as well. He stated that with the possible union with Kymco Taiwan, customers can expect more motorcycle models to choose from and with improved dealer, service, spare parts and after-market support.

Gilbert Limjoco, vice president for production of S.C. Kymco Pilipinas, demonstrated the features of the new Kymco Free LX, which is the company’s bet against the Yamaha Mio and Suzuki Step. It is powered by a powerful forced air-cooled 4-stroke single-cylinder motor that is Euro 2 compliant with its low emission ratings. The motor is mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) belt drive, which provides the convenient twist-and-go ease of operation of a scooter. The Free LX likewise boasts of a large under seat storage capacity and various storage nooks and flat floor board for the convenience of the rider.

Limjoco adds that the Taiwan-made Free LX is also competitively priced against its Japanese rivals while maintaining its superior quality against emerging CVT underbone scooters from China. He also highlighted their model’s high-end styling and its adaptability to modifications and customization, which is the current trend among motorcycle and scooter owners.

The Kymco Free LX and the upcoming new models from Kymco are indicators that the company is indeed headed into an exciting future for motorcycle and scooter enthusiasts.  For further inquiries, please call S.C. Kymco Pilipinas at 822-1053.
