How far could one full tank go?
Motorsports legend Pocholo Ramirezs answer to that is 1,114 kilometers Pagudpud to Sorsogon. This time around, when Petron asked the same question, six teams composed of ordinary motorists will take on the challenge and find out their own answers.
Team de Perio are Mark Jim and Romina, a young married couple working in Makati. The de Perios practice eco-run techniques everyday to keep within their budget. The other team representing Metro Manila is composed of Eco-run enthusiasts Raymound Young and Randolph Mencias, known as Team R (2).
Representing Northern Luzon are two teams. The 37th Team comprised of Michael and Mary Grace Asuncion logged 37.14 kms/li in an eco-run theyve joined earlier. It is proof that the Asuncions have adapted fuel-efficiency driving in their lifestyle. On the other hand, Team AR is made up of well-known TV host and sportscaster Ron de los Reyes and his co-host Julienne Cruz of the show AutoReview.
Driving for Southern Luzon are Joanna Antonio and Randy Ravena who both work for Honda car dealerships. Joanna is an HR officer while Randy is a sales executive. Rounding up the challengers are the Zayco Hermanos, brothers Emilio and Emmanuel Zayco of Kabankalan, Negros Occidental.
According to Petron Corporation, The Xtra Mile Challenge is designed to show how far a well-maintained and skillfully-driven vehicle can travel on one full tank of Petron Xtra Unleaded gasoline. The new Petron Xtra Unleaded is an environment-friendly, premium motor gasoline which contains a high-performance detergent additive that provides excellent engine cleaning effect to ensure optimum performance. It also has a unique catalyst that conditions the fuel to promote more efficient fuel combustion and lower fuel consumption.
The run, which is set from May 31 to June 2, begins at Pagudpud (Pasuquin), Ilocos Norte and ends when the vehicles run out of fuel, most likely in the Bicol region. Follow the progress of the six teams and "Vote for Your Team" through a text-in raffle promo. At stake are 3G-enabled phones from Smart and six free PLDT myDSL connections for 6 months.
