Ford dominates total suv segment

Ford Group Philippines dominated the SUV segment last June, with strong performances shown by the Ford Everest (no.1 in compact SUV segment), Ford Expedition and the Ford Escape.
According to a sales report from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), Ford Philippines sold a total of 460 SUVs in June while year-to-date figures reinforced Fords dominance in the SUV segment by posting year-to-date total sales of 2,159 vehicles.
Since its introduction in October 2003, the Ford Everest has consistently ranked no.1 in its category, having captured 54 percent of the compact SUV segment year-to-date. Last June, the Ford Everest led the growth in its class with 235 units sold, ahead of the Mitsubishi Pajero and the Toyota Prado.
Ford recently launched the Everest Automatic variant, both available in 4x2 and 4x4 transmission. Over 1,500 units of the Ford Everest have now been sold since its launch last year.
Meanwhile, the Ford Expedition continues to enjoy 37 percent of the full-size SUV category, selling 116 units from the period January to June 2004. The Ford Escape also maintained 17 percent share in the small SUV segment, selling 978 units during the same period this year.
