Fueled by Shell Better Mileage Gasoline and Shell Diesoline Ultra, twelve entries from the passenger taxi category, two from the passenger multicab category, and nine from the passenger jeepney category drove a total distance of 100.8 kms. They covered the route from NEY Shell gas station in Ouano avenue, Mandaue in the main thoroughfares of Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu and Cebu cities, and back to NEY Shell gas station for refueling to determine the results of the fuel economy run.
Outdoing eleven other participants, Leo Lameda Barredo emerged as the first-placer for the passenger taxi category, Barredo covered 23.191 kilometers per liter using his Nissan Sentra. Barredo of Metro Cebu Taxi Operators Association (MCTOA) received a pre-paid Shell fuel card and a television set. William Castro bagged the second place in the same category when he drove 22.338 kilometers per litre on his gasoline-powered Nissan Sentra. Herminigildo Abuy Camangyan, who also drove a Nissan Sentra, recorded a mileage rating of 21.772 kilometers per litre, was third place.
In the passenger jeepney category, Alfredo Taboada bested eight other participants when he drove his diesel-powered Isuzu with a mileage rating of 14.957 kilometers per litre. Taboada, a Pepeng Pasada member, received a pre-paid Shell fuel card, a tire cover and a television set. Other winners were second placer Juan Ninal Jr. of CITRASCO with a mileage rating of 14.722 kilometers per litre and third placer Nestor Desucatan of CITRASCO with a mileage rating of 13.385 kilometers per litre.
For the passenger multicab category, Eufemio Oracoy secured the first place while Meneleo Canares bagged the second, Oracoy covered 19,111 kilometers per litre in his Suzuki 6V, while Canares recorded a mileage rating of 17,058 kilometers per litre. Oracoy of CITRASCO received a pre-paid Shell fuel card and a television set.
