Readers of Austrias major motoring magazine Auto Revue, which was founded in 1965 and has a monthly readership of around half a million, voted for the Audi A4 as their top choice in the mid-range segment of the auto revue Awards 2003.
The United Kingdoms WhatCar?, which was established in 1974 and now has a circulation of just under 150,000, named the Audi A4 1.9 the "Best Compact Executive Saloon" of 2003. According to WhatCar?, "With its beautiful styling and classy cabin, any executive could be happy to be seen in the A4. We love the way it cossets its occupants. Taking clients out in it will leave them unruffled and impressed."
In the "Autonis 2003" readers poll, which comprised a field of 12 categories and 326 car models from Germany, the Audi A4 received the nod from 46,415 informed readers as the best car design in the "midsize" category. The Berlin-based automobile magazine AUTO Strassenverkehr in cooperation with its sister magazine Mot, which is published in Stuttgart, presented the prestigious award to Dr. Martin Winterkorn, chairman of the AUDI AG Board of Management; Walter da Silva, head of Audi Brand Group Design; and Gerhard Pfefferle, head of Audi Design.
