The year that was: Navigating the Philippine property market

The year 2022 has proven yet again that the Philippine property market has remained resilient and is growing stronger. The real estate industry remains to be one of the most stable driving forces behind our economy.

It is truly amazing to witness how we have adapted and shifted our priorities, and even our way of life. Our relationships, time and health have become the forefront of our concerns. The new normal has made us reflect on our future lives.

We have learned new and better ways of making our lives safer, more comfortable and more efficient.  These challenges brought out the creative and innovative ability of the Filipinos to find extraordinary solutions to seemingly insurmountable problems.  This made us all more resourceful, productive and resilient.

Our journey at DataLand Inc. (DLI) has been challenging and we have encountered our share of the crisis that everyone experienced. This is the very reason why our ten-year milestone in the industry this year is momentous. The story of our survival and success makes this anniversary sweeter and will definitely be ingrained in our hearts and minds. 

We can proudly say that we made it happen, so to speak—we earned our battle scars and our medals. This year is a time of gratitude, celebration and breaking barriers to achieve excellence.

The key learnings that have emerged from all these have now become part of DLI’s core values. They have become our pillars of strength and resilience, and we believe that these will propel us to realize our vision of creating homes, commercial spaces, offices and townships that bring out a vision of a complete lifestyle—one that upholds and fiercely protects the important things in life, which are our relationships, our security, our health and our time.

Unwavering commitment is a mark of discipline that has enabled us to achieve operational excellence during difficult times. Implementing highly efficient and seamless processes have allowed us to fulfill our commitments despite the challenges.

At the height of the pandemic, DLI was one of the very few, if not the only developer, who continued to turnover units to its buyers. Together with our parent firm DDT Konstract Inc. (DDTKI) founded by our Chairman, Engr. Danilo D. Tamayo, we managed to keep that promise to deliver.

The DDT Group of Companies and its subsidiaries—DLI, DDTKI and Whiteport Inc. (WPI) has remained relevant and unfazed by external impediments. In my earlier years in WPI and now with DLI, we have always made sure that we live true to our corporate values and continue to be disciplined in executing our plans and implementing our processes. This has kept us efficient, effective and reliable throughout the years. Our focus has always been to find better ways and solutions to overcome any obstacles that we are faced.

Eventually, all our efforts paid off and WPI has proudly become a triple-A contractor by its own merit and has now become one of the most sought-after fit-out and full-service construction companies. DLI has become an integral component in helping our group to continue to grow and create more opportunities. It is such synergy with our parent company DDTKI that is key to our continued success to this day.
