MANILA, Philippines — Underpinning the value of sportswear and gear is in their capability to help athletes perform better during training and competition, whatever the environmental factors may be, with their combination of comfort, durability and aesthetics. This is the value that propelled Under Armour to thrive for over two decades globally and has led to its continuous growth in the Philippines since it was launched in the country in 2015. The high performance sportswear label currently has seven brand houses in Metro Manila including Cebu, 18 participating stores in SM Malls, and a total of 151 wholesale partners nationwide.

“Many Filipinos are into sports or a fitness lifestyle, and we’re continuously researching and innovating on our products to empower more athletes everywhere by supporting their performance,” said Mark Chan, president of Athletes Pro Group Inc. (APGI), the local distributor of Under Armour apparel and footwear in the Philippines.

Founded in 1996, Under Armour is the originator of performance apparel gear that are engineered with complex technology for men, women, and youth. The fabric and stitching innovation used in the products translate to straightforward benefits: all are designed to keep athletes cool, dry, and light throughout the course of a game, practice, or workout. “Our mission is to make all athletes better through passion, design, and a relentless pursuit of innovation,” Chan said.

Having started out in producing apparel for athletes before venturing into footwear, the brand has become renowned in creating athletic attire that dries quickly, won’t cling, and offers a lightweight and supportive fit.

This year, Under Armour in the Philippines is venturing into the new performance lifestyle collection that infuses performance and style so athletes and those leading an active lifestyle can look on point whether at the gym or on the street.

“We are looking to expand further in the country because Under Armour is committed to be the top-of-mind sports brand when it comes to empowering athletes and helping them enhance their performance. To drive this vision, we handpicked ambassadors who are credible, because they’ve been wearing the brand even before we reached out to them,” Chan said.

For this year, Under Armour is set to hold a regional 3 on 3 basketball tournament which is one of the largest urban team sports of the world. There are also plans to hold other sports activities and social efforts this year with the goal to give athletes and aspiring ones different venues where they can hone their skills further.
