A day of harvest with the President

President Duterte recently made a visit to rice fields of Brgy. Tabacao, Talavera, Nueva Ecija to lead the ceremonial harvest, signaling the start of the reaping season. Assisted by Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol, the president inspected the nation’s most technologically advanced fields where SL-8H hybrid rice was planted. The event, organized by SL Agritech Corp. (SLAC) chairman and CEO Henry Lim Bon Liong and his hardworking team, marked yet another milestone in history as President Duterte became the first Philippine president to grace a hybrid rice harvest festival. At the event, President Duterte and Secretary Piñol vowed to promote and protect the welfare of every Filipino farmer, as well as their harvests and produce. The president also reiterated his campaign promise to give our farmers free irrigation to compete with neighboring countries that are able to export their rice because of low production costs.
