MANILA, Philippines - When brothers and famous football players, James and Phil Younghusband, established one of the world’s largest football clubs Chelsea FC in the Philippines, they needed the ideal location to train their young athletes. And as fate had it, they chanced upon an impressively green football pitch from the Skyway. This emerald jewel of a space was at Tribeca Private Residences in Sucat, Muntinlupa City, one of the residential gems in the crown of luxury property developer Landco Pacific Corp. This chance discovery not only led to making Tribeca’s singular 7-side pitch as the ideal home for the Younghusband’s eponymous school, they also made it their own home.
The Younghusband siblings found it impressive, calling it “fearless and unique,” that Landco dedicated so much open space in a residential development, since land is a premium commodity in a highly urbanized area such as Metro Manila. Tribeca Private Residences offers not only spacious condominium living, but also a collection of amenities unrivalled by others such as a three-hectare Central Park, which includes the soccer field, fitness stations, and generous children’s playground.
Owning a unit at Tribeca also means they are Privilege Club members that gives them access to Landco’s leisure destinations like Peninsula de Punta Fuego, Terrazas de Punta Fuego, Playa Calatagan, Playa Laiya and Playa Azalea in Samal island, Davao. The brothers feel that Landco’s brand promise of ‘life at your leisure’ is truly akin to their own preferred way of living. They both appreciate Tribeca’s laidback lifestyle, and as individuals, have their own favourite features. James shares that he is eager to see more families enjoying the green grass and the trees while Phil looks forward to seeing the football field from his unit. “It’s the only condo community in the South that still keeps its sense of green and nature,” says James.
As teachers of the football academy, the brothers declare that Tribeca is an ideal environment for nurturing the youth’s love for the game. No wonder they have made full use of the 7-side pitch which is the main operating center for Chelsea FC Soccer School Philippines, whose mission is to promote football among the young. “(The field) is perfect for younger kids—it’s not too little or too big,” says James. “Here, they get to play while their parents watch—football is a very family-oriented sport,” Phil added.
As athletes themselves, they highly value the amenities at Tribeca to keep them in tiptop form, from the football field to the multi-activity aqua park. As the community is located near the Makati and Alabang CBDs, James considers Tribeca’s convenient location a bonus. “It makes it a lot easier to get around for training or have a simple kickabout with friends,” James continues. With its close proximity to private schools, hospitals, shopping malls, and airports, living in Tribeca allows one to live life according to one’s whims. “Here, I feel at home where I can do my own thing and still meet people,” contributes Phil. “We’re both very active, yet we both need time to chill.”
