Talk on succession

BUSINESS CHIC - Johnny Litton - The Philippine Star

A forum to answer the challenge of successful succession planning was hosted by the Association of Young Filipino-Chinese Entrepreneurs (AYFCE) led by its chairman emeritus George Siy, chairman Jeffrey Ng, president Jovenson Ong and regent Michael Tan at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Ortigas. Keynote speakers were JG Summit Holdings president and COO Lance Gokongwei and sister Robinsons Retail Group president and COO Robina Gokongwei-Pe. The captains of industry, their families, top leaders from the Chinese Embassy, Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. and the Philippine Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry attended the dinner forum held in partnership with PLDT SME Nation. Formerly the Anvil Business Club, the 21-year old AYFCE is one of the country’s foremost dynamic young business associations committed to spreading the culture of entrepreneurship to second and third-generation Filipino-Chinese professionals. True to this task, AYFCE is now training its new breed of future leaders, led by its executive vice president Reginald Yu, vice presidents Alvin Teng, Jeremy Sy, Marcelo Co, Edison Kwong and Hubert Chua. Congratulations to the AYFCE for a very informative discussion! To know more about membership and their next forum, call the AYFCE secretariat at 726-7029.

Paintings by the ‘Woman in Yellow’

More than 100 artworks of the late president Corazon “Cory” Aquino painted on canvas, wood and even stone were displayed at the Lobby Lounge and Roma Salon of the Manila Hotel in commemoration of her fourth death anniversary. The exhibit, “A Gift of Self,” was organized by the legendary hotel led by its president, lawyer Joey Lina in cooperation with Adamson University, and spearheaded by Deedee Siytangco. President Aquino and sister Viel Aquino-Dee graced the exhibit. Mrs. Aquino had taken an interest in painting after finishing her term and was known to give out her paintings as tokens of gratitude. Among those who lent their Aquino artwork for the Filipino people to see and admire included House Speaker Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte, Senator Cynthia Villar, PLDT chairman Manny Pangilinan, and Dr. Emilio C. Yap III. Thank you, Manila Hotel, for remembering Cory!
