Around the world in a Mercedes
A 23-year road trip across the globe is truly a magnificent feat worth rejoicing for! CATS Motors, Inc., the exclusive distributor of Mercedes Benz cars in the country, recently hosted a special ceremonial to welcome well-known German globe-trotter Gunther Holtorf who finally arrived in the Philippines, the 200th country he has visited. At the Mercedes-Benz Greenhills showroom, CATS Motors executives led by chairman Greg Yu and president Felix Ang, members of the German Embassy and German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce, and other Mercedes-Benz owners felt privileged to meet the 74-year-old former airline executive who continues to travel the world in his trusty 1988 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen, he affectionately named “Otto”. Here’s a double toast — to Gunther, for inspiring us with his adventures and to Mercedes-Benz for helping make it happen!
For a taste of home
To celebrate the 114th anniversary of the declaration of Philippine Independence Day in Guam, a Filipino food festival was hosted by the Guam Reef Hotel to offer a taste of home for the sizable Filipino community in the US territory. For the “Fiesta sa Nayon sa Guam”, the Guam hotel “imported” two chefs from Plantation Bay Resort and Spa, a premier resort located in Mactan Island, Cebu ably run by general manager Efren Belarmino. Executive sous chef Henry Abellana and sous chef Joe Napoles showed their culinary expertise in presenting a smorgasbord of the finest in Filipino cuisine. Seen enjoying the sumptuous buffet were Guam Lieutenant Governor Ray Tenorio, Agana consul general Bayani Mangibin, Guam Reef Hotel acting general manager Eichi Koyama, and officials from United Airlines.
