An honor for the great Oscar Lopez

Known for his exceptional vision and unparalleled contribution to the various sectors of the country, Lopez Group of Companies chairman emeritus Oscar Lopez was recently conferred with the degree of Doctor of Laws, Honoris Causa from the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman. Awarded during the 101st General Commencement Exercises of the country’s premier university, UP president Alfredo Pascual and UP Board of Regents member Reynato Puno presented the degree to Oscar Lopez in the presence of his family, led by his loving wife Connie Rufino-Lopez, special guests and the university’s new graduates. Congratulations, Oscar, for another well-deserved achievement!

 

Building friendship across borders

In an effort to present their unique culture and heritage to the world, 27 nations from the Asia-Pacific region gathered at the recently held Annual Charity Bazaar of Asia Pacific Ladies Friendship Society (ALFS) in Tokyo, Japan. Led by the event chairperson Maritess Lopez, the loving and supportive wife of ambassador of the Philippines to Japan, His Excellency Manuel Lopez, the event was well-attended by luminaries including special guest, Her Royal Highness, Princess Hitachi. Congratulations on such a monumental event, Maritess!

 

A toast to the women of the world

A fruitful year is definitely on its way for the All Nations Women’s Group (ANWG) with the recently held annual induction of the group’s newly-elected officers for 2012-2013. Led by its president Sally Maliuanag and inducting officer Bayan Muna party list representative Teddy Casiño, the Circles at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel was filled with much hope and anticipation for a great year with the new set of officers. Sally also announced the flagship project of the group which is to provide scholarship programs to students along with the traditional activities and cultural programs of the organization. Congratulations to the new officers and more power to ANWG! Cheers!

Zonta Club holds diamond jubilee

Zonta Club of Manila I, the first Zonta Club in Asia, will celebrate its diamond anniversary with a grand dinner-dance on June 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Peninsula Manila hotel. The proceeds of the gala is slated for the support of the club’s 80 scholars in Rajah Sulayman High School and the Eulogio Rodriguez High School in Sta. Mesa. Congratulations to Zonta Club’s remarkable women!
