For better Philippine-African trade relations

A superb dinner at the Peking Garden restaurant in Makati was hosted by PCCI chairman emeritus, doctor Francis Chua and United Republic of Tanzania consul Betty Chua for permanent Philippine representative to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary, His Excellency Domingo Lucenario. At the dinner table, Lucenario, thanked his hosts for the occasion to improve trade relations between our country and the African states which he has jurisdiction over. Mabuhay to all!

For better living and learning

To provide a better learning environment for future generations, Wilcon Builders Depot donated 62 school furniture packages to Cagayan de Oro City. Worth approximately P3 million, the donation was spread across 12 schools in both elementary and high school levels. In line with its ongoing corporate citizenship thrust, Wilcon also pledged to donate sanitary wares for the homes to be built by Habitat for Humanity. The partnership is intended to last indefinitely. Signing for the company were Wilcon president and chief executive officer William Belo and executive vice president and chief operating officer Rosemarie Bosch-Ong. More power to Wilcon!

Hot chef visits Manila

Asian Food Channel rock-and-roll celebrity chef Chuck Hughes took center stage during the “Hot at HEAT” event held at Edsa Shangri-La, Manila’s HEAT restaurant known for its interactive “open-theater” kitchens. Diners at the all-day dining restaurant simply enjoyed feasting on the Canadian chef’s signature dishes. Congratulations to Edsa Shangri-La, Manila general manager Henry Lee and his efficient team for the bringing in chef Chuck, much to the delight of his Manila fans!

Guaranteed jobs for Manila’s unemployed

A total of 350 Manila residents were gainfully employed after undergoing free skills training, thanks to “Manila’s Pangkabuhayan Projects”—a major project of Inner Wheel Club of Manila immediate past president Minerva Tanseco in collaboration with Manila mayor Alfredo Lim’s Barangay Bureau and other generous donors led by San Miguel Corporation Foundation. Among the skills offered were hair cutting and treatments, manicure, pedicure, foot spa and industrial sewing. Your generosity will really go a long way, Minerva!
