Seeing through the South China Sea issue
A quarter of the world’s commerce pass through the waters of the South China Sea, thus a wider interest in preserving the freedom of navigation and use of these waters is of utmost importance. To initiate a dialogue among the concerned parties, the Carlos P. Romulo (CPR) Foundation for Peace and Development in collaboration with the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies of Singapore organized the “Forum on South China Sea” at the Manila Polo Club. CPR foundation chairman, ambassador Roberto Romulo said the forum was categorized as a “Track II” conference, meaning speakers did not speak as the official voice of government. The two-day event ended with an open plenary session with an audience of 150. Keynote speakers were former ambassadors Frank Wisner (US), Chen Shiqiu (China) and Hasjim Djalal (Indonesia). Our congratulations to former secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Roberto “Bobby” Romulo!
A delightful French affair
Friends from the media experienced the rich culture and culinary traditions of France during the recently held French Food Festival at the luxurious Lobby Lounge of Marco Polo Plaza Cebu (MPPC), the only 5-star hotel in Cebu City. Affable MPPC general manager Hans Hauri, with his warm hospitality trademark, treated everyone to a culinary affair like no other. Guests enjoyed a delectable feast of popular French appetizers, salads, main courses and desserts, alongside a selection of fine cheeses paired with premium wines carefully prepared by Master Cheesemaker Richard Poirer and topnotch MPPC executive chef Luke Gagnon. Indeed, it was another exceptionally gastronomic feast presented by the amazing and outstanding team of Marco Polo Plaza Cebu!
