Finding the Philippines

To describe where the Philippines is can be quite a feat for some people. Good thing, the brilliant ambassador Rod Severino recently launched his book entitled “Where in the World is the Philippines?” Hosted by the Carlos P. Romulo Foundation for Peace and Development led by its chairman ambassador Bobby Romulo and held at the Manila Polo Club, the launch turned into a plush social event that was well-attended by opinion leaders from the government, academe, business, media and the foreign diplomatic corps who all had an enjoyable and serious time discussing the challenging national issue. Keynote speakers former president Fidel Ramos, former National Security head and legal luminary Estelito Mendoza and General Jose Almonte gave their commentaries on the imperatives of focusing and prioritizing this issue at the highest level of government because of its political and security implications, domestically and internationally. Congratulations!

Pawnbrokers social responsibility

The Chamber of Pawnbrokers of the Philippines’ Inc. (CPPI) led by its president Zambia consul general Louie Ablaza, recently held the National Convention, Awarding and Election of Pawnbrokers at the Quezon City Sports Club to honor its exemplary members. With the theme “Fulfilling Our Responsibility to Help Create a Better Community,” the event strengthened the aim of the country’s finest pawnbrokers to work towards a better country by providing the best services to its clients. Congratulations!

Let’s hear it from the best

The Philippine Society of Audiology (PSAud) recently held its 8th annual convention at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel which also served as a recognition event for the country’s finest audiologists. PSAud president doctor Diosdado Uy presented the presidential award to Manila Hearing Aid chairman doctor Joey Abaño for his revolutionary efforts in the field of audiology while Manila Hearing Aid chief clinical audiologist Liza Abaño Robles received a plaque of appreciation for being the first Filipino audiologist to graduate with a Master’s Degree in Audiology from The Macquarie University of Australia.
