Sun Life heightens CSR efforts for media men

-

MANILA, Philippines - It is alarming how the people who bring us the news have, recently and increasingly, become themselves the subject of bad, often tragic, news. And because of this spate of media attacks in recent years, Sun Life has continued to provide protection to these men and women whose lives are always at risk when they go out to cover dangerous events. And protection comes in the form of Personal Accident insurance provided by Sun Life to this group of individuals who need protection the most. That is the very essence of the Sagip Reporter program.

Now on its fourth year, the Sagip reporter program has helped some 200 print and broadcast journalists and production personnel. These are among the same people who have been very supportive of Sun Life’s mission to communicate to its target publics the benefits of financial preparedness. And to recognize media’s support, a thanksgiving event is held every year where no less than SLFP president & CEO Riza Mantaring hands over personally the PA certificates and Text Cards to the intended recipients.

“Media has always played a vital role in our business success. Giving back something to them that will significantly help in providing for the needs of their loved ones, in the event of a tragic loss, perfectly aligns with our corporate mission to protect the future of the Filipino people,” says President Mantaring.

This year’s recognition ceremony was held at Fully Booked, Global City with top SLFP executives, field managers, head office staff and media friends in attendance. Making the event doubly special were the launching of Sun PIOLOgy 2011 calendar dubbed “Pursuits Journal” featuring Piolo Pascual’s most captivating photos taken from his trips abroad; and the turnover of a donation to the Hebreo 12:1 Foundation which Piolo and his siblings put up for indigent children.

Aside from the PA certificates, the media were treated to an evening of songs from Sun Life’s celebrity endorser himself and the Hiyas ng Pilipinas choir, a sumptuous dinner and a raffle that served as the finale for the evening’s event.
