In honor of the ideals and memory of the late Supreme Court Justice Cecilia Muñoz Palma, the Justice Palma Foundation led by board of trustees chairman Mina Gabor, recently made a mark in history as it bestowed its first Justice Cecilia Muñoz Palma Award to former senate president Jovito Salonga at the EDSA Shangri-la Hotel. In recognition of his unwavering principles, sterling leadership, valuable contribution in the legal profession, and unceasing service to the country and the Filipino people through his support in various cause-oriented groups, Salonga received a trophy sculpted by Ramon Orlina, a cash gift, and a grant to Kilosbayan represented by Rafael Alunan III. U.N. Ambassador Hilario Davide, Jr. graced the affair as guest of honor and speaker. On the same occasion, the foundation celebrated the late Palma’s 96th birthday by launching the Commemorative Stamp of Justice Palma led by postmaster general Hector R.R. Villanueva and Pearl Palma Cardema. Congratulations!
A distinctive gem
A happy and colorful birthday party in honor of a rare gem, Makati’s compassionate first lady doctor Elenita Binay, was held recently at the Makati Shangri-la Hotel’s Shang Palace. Close friends such as Alice Briones, Marietta Santos, Thelma Gana, Baby de Jesus, Shirley Uy and Grace Palma-Tiongco led well-wishers in wishing the good doctora more prosperous years. Graceful dances and entertaining songs were also enjoyed by the celebrator’s intimate friends Guatemala consul Mellie Ablaza, Angola consul Helen Ong, Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines (FCCP) president Minerva Tanseco, Justa Tantoco, and socialite Nene Leonor, among many others. Great food and felicitations were in generous amounts! Happy birthday and many more to come!
Meeting with the best
One of the tests of a good leader is her choice of an efficient and passionate management team. Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines (FCCP) president Minerva Tanseco is fortunate to have such an excellent team of leaders in her executive committee to support her Philippine cultural and heritage upliftment advocacy. More power, Minerva!
