A gathering of the literati

To celebrate the publication of doctor Ricky Soler’s book, a collection of short stories titled “For Starters”, Jeannie Goulbourn hosted cocktails for an animated ‘gathering of the literati’ with icons in Philippine literature and journalism, arts and architecture, diplomacy and local government. The book is receiving plaudits from the most discriminating and unforgiving literary critics in the country. “For Starters” has been praised by two National Artists for Literature, Frankie Sionil Jose and Bien Lumbera while National Artist for Painting Arturo Luz provided ten original collages he especially produced for the book. Four Palanca awardees and a number of columnists and writers accord it with glowing laurels, making it the currently most written about and widely discussed book in local circles. Congratulations, Ricky! Grab a copy at all National Book Store outlets and at La Solidaridad Bookstore.
