Business As Usual

McKinley Hill Cyberpark generates 5 thousand jobs

-

Here’s a bit of really good news following announcement of a global-wide recession and massive job cuts in the US and Europe.

Following the lead of its predecessor Eastwood City Cyberpark, the newly established McKinley Hill Cyberpark in Fort Bonifacio is now also fast becoming a top employment-generating special IT zone in the country.

By the end of the year, top business process outsourcing (BPO) office buildings developer Megaworld Corp. is projecting the number of offshoring and outsourcing (O&O) employees and executives at McKinley Hill Cyberpark to exceed 5,000 individuals.

Megaworld is the developer of both the Eastwood City Cyberpark in Libis, Quezon City, the first and most successful special IT park in the country, and McKinley Hill Cyberpark.

Currently, there are four trailblazing business process outsourcing (BPO) buildings in McKinley Hill that are already operational. These are the One World Square, Two World Square, Three World Square, and 8 Park Avenue Building A.

Aside from the office spaces, the retail outlets on the ground floor of the Two World Square and Three World Square will be fully leased out by the first quarter of 2009.

Still under construction are 8/10 Upper McKinley Road, 18/20 Upper McKinley Road, and the Commerce & Industry Plaza. All five buildings are set to be finished next year.

“By developing the Eastwood City Cyberpark, Megaworld provided the necessary infrastructure support to nurture the growth of the domestic BPO industry. Now, with McKinley Hill Cyberpark, we are giving O&O firms the assurance that they will continue to have a prime location that will cater to their needs as they pursue their expansion programs,” Megaworld FVP for Business Development Jericho Go said.

Among the prominent O&O locators at McKinley Hill Cyberpark are top technology & services firms HP and Accenture plus industrial giant 3M.

Megaworld has committed to construct at least two BPO buildings per year as its way of contributing to the rapid growth of the industry.

As of December 2007, Eastwood City Cyberpark already had more than 12,000 individuals employed by O&O firms, holding the distinction of being the top employer among all Philippine Economic Zone Authority-accredited IT parks in the country.

In developing McKinley Hill Cyberpark, Megaworld Corp. did not only incorporate the winning formula of the Eastwood City Cyberpark, but also added more features to make it the perfect location for BPO firms.

The company put lots of greenery and open spaces for employees to unwind. There are also numerous retail shops in the commercial area and top caliber residential projects nearby for the BPO employees and executives. Traffic congestion is not also a problem in the area, unlike the traffic-prone business districts of Makati and Ortigas.

The Two World Square and Three World Square are adjacent to each other and can be interconnected, giving the locators the flexibility to expand horizontally to up to 3,000 square meters of office space for better layout and efficiency.

The Commerce & Industry Plaza, on the other hand, has wide uninterrupted office spaces of up to 1,800 square meters because the building was designed in such a way that the posts and columns will not be found inside the units to make sure that the BPO locators will not waste precious space.

8 Park Avenue, meanwhile, has dozens of solar panels at the rooftop to convert the heat of the sun into electricity for the use of the building. Its air-conditioning system’s zoning scheme allows locators to cool only specific areas at a given time, allowing them to adjust the coolness of the work areas according to their operational peaks.
