Canon beefs up customer benefits with global certification
For Canon, it takes more than high tech toys from a box to run a good business. It also requires skill, training, and dedication – the very traits Canon’s sales consultants possess and take pride in, as evidenced by a certification from internationally-renowned Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA).
With top companies in more than 100 countries as members, CompTIA has validated Canon staff with a Certified Document Imaging Architect (CDIA+) validation. This globally-recognized standard from CompTIA, the world’s largest developer of vendor-neutral IT certification exams, readily ensures the Canon staff meets the international standards for computer support professionals.
The staff certification also assures clients that people who handle their account are licensed Document Imaging Architects capable of creating solutions that adhere to stringent international laws. Most prominent of these laws are the Sarbannes-Oxley Act of the US, and the Data Protection Law of UK.
Canon also notes their CDIA+ certification is proof of how they value their relationship with customers, by churning out committed and qualified staff members who can supply the best possible professional advice to the latter. In addition, Canon sees the certification as a way of empowering their people.
Also displaying Canon’s dedication to excellence is its ‘Business Can Be Simple’ campaign, an initiative that provides customers with a simpler way of doing business. This major branding campaign developed in 2006, communicates the benefits of Canon’s business solutions: easily applicable solutions that can grow with the customer’s company, simplifying the decision-making process.
Canon bolsters this initiative with its strong background knowledge of customers and their demands.
It is no wonder indeed that Canon has a yearly region-wide contest known as the All Asian BIS Demo Challenge 2008, which gathers the cream of its Business Imaging Solutions (BIS) staff from the entire Asia-Pacific.
Since its inception in 2005, the Demo Challenge has been touted as a competitive meeting of the minds. The Demo Challenge gathers BIS staff from Canon’s offices in Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, China, India, Hong Kong, Myanmar, Maldives, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Brunei.
It then enables the Canon BIS staff to compete in conceptualizing and executing the best possible business solutions, in effect honing them when providing their services to decision-makers for IT purchases in small- to medium-enterprises (SMEs), as well as small work group influencers within larger companies.
