Pilipinas Shell supports Asia Pacific confab on economic cooperation
October 9, 2006 | 12:00am
Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. joined in the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Business Advisory Council (ABAC) held on August 11-15, 2006 at the Mactan Shangri-La in Cebu.
The event gathered the past and incumbent members representing CEOs from the Asia-Pacific regions global companies and authorities on regional economic cooperation. Part of the event was a two-day conference held on August 12-13, 2006 with the theme "APEC means Business."
The conference addressed two related issues: the first was securing the future of the global trading system with its growing complexity that has challenged the ability of World Trade Organization (WTO) to manage it. The second issue was whether APECs principles, particularly open regionalism, are still relevant in view of the changing business landscape.
Pilipinas Shell was one of the sponsors of the event where various literature on products and services as well as best practices on Health, Safety, Security and Environment were distributed to the attendees of the conference.
