Panasonic and IMAX team up for ultimate movie experience

Electronic giant Panasonic has been chosen by IMAX Corp. to be its partner in providing the ultimate movie experience in the Philippines.
This is the fifth time that Panasonic, with its state-of-the-art technology and complete line of audio-video products, was tapped by IMAX to serve as its Home Entertainment Partner in its giant theater. Panasonic and IMAX have been combining their forces for the past decade, beginning in Sydney, Australia, and moving on to other IMAX Theatres in Thailand, Poland and the United States.
Rene T. Almeda, president of Panasonic Philippines, said the entire Panasonic family is proud to have been chosen by IMAX for its first ever project in the country.
"This is a clear proof of the trust and confidence of IMAX on the Panasonic brand, being a giant in home entertainment," Almeda said. "Panasonic complements IMAX because of its superiority and leadership in the market."
According to Almeda, IMAX is the "Mt. Everest" of out-of-home movie viewing and it is Panasonics great honor to be chosen by IMAX as its partner from among the many brands in home entertainment.
"We have the most complete line of products that can give the ultimate home theater experience," he said.
The IMAX Theatre at the SM Mall of Asia is without doubt the ultimate in movie viewing in the Philippines, with crystal-clear images as big as an eight-story building and wrap-around digital sound emanating from 44 sub-bass speakers for 12,000 watts of power.
As a preview of that experience, moviegoers can have a sample of what to see and hear inside the theater through several Panasonic plasma screens at the IMAX Theatre lobby. The moviegoers can have a glimpse of how superior the IMAX technology is through the Panasonic screens, some of them as wide as 65 inches.
In the future, Almeda said, Panasonic customers would have exclusive privileges at the IMAX Theatre as part of the Panasonic-IMAX tie-up.
In the meantime, Almeda is inviting all Filipinos to experience for themselves the magic of IMAX with the ongoing screening of the movie Superman Returns, the first Hollywood live action film to be shot partly on IMAX 3D format.
"Many of us dream of flying. Now, with the IMAX technology, we can experience the joy and thrill of flying like Superman," the Panasonic boss said.
