BCCP to hold second Virtual Trade Mission in May 2021

(As released) The second iteration of the British Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines' Virtual Trade Mission is happening in May and focusing on the food and drink and retail industries.

In 2020, its first virtual trade mission successfully attracted UK companies across many different sectors mainly from education, automotive and business services, said Chris Nelson, executive director of the British Chamber.

The British Chamber in partnership with the UK Department of International Trade aims to contribute to supporting and promoting UK exports to the Philippines through the Overseas Partner Delivery Programme.

At a virtual investment roadshow last March, DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez said top investments from Europe that the country has received last year were from the United Kingdom, Netherlands and France.

President Rodrigo Duterte recently certified three economic bills namely the Retail Trade Liberalization Act, Public Service Act and Foreign Investments Act as urgent.

The priority legislation seek to boost investments and spur the country’s economic growth by relaxing restrictions to foreign investors.

The British Chamber supports the immediate passing of these crucial reforms to increase foreign direct investments in the country. — As released
