MANILA, Philippines —  All four northbound lanes of the North Luzon Expressway in Marilao, Bulacan are now passable to vehicles as repair works along the NLEX-Marilao Interchange Bridge were completed ahead of schedule.

NLEX Corp. said all supporting steel poles would remain along the lanes to allow concrete curing on the bridge.

With this development, traffic flow along the northbound lanes in Marilao is expected to improve and normalize in the next few days, the tollway company said.

On March 19, an 18-wheeler truck hit the bridge, causing damage and traffic gridlocks.

Authorities were compelled to reroute traffic to facilitate repair of the bridge and ensure the safety of motorists.

Originally scheduled for completion in two weeks, NLEX Corp. sped up repair works, with teams working around the clock and materials delivered early.

The Department of Transportation commended NLEX Corp. for the opening of all four lanes ahead of schedule.
