MANILA, Philippines — Security Bank Corp. and Globe Telecom Inc. have signed a memorandum of agreement to enhance the mobile and banking experience for Globe’s postpaid subscribers.

Rahul Rasal, external vice president and retail banking segment head at Security Bank, said the bank joined forces with Globe to bring its BetterBanking retail solutions to their postpaid customers.

“Our commitment to delivering differentiated and high-quality products aligns seamlessly with Globe’s digital-first approach, ensuring that customers receive the best possible experience. This partnership is a testament to our dedication to meeting the evolving needs of the market,” he said.

Through the partnership, Globe postpaid subscribers with Plan 1299 and up will be able to access Security Bank’s retail banking products and its updated BetterBanking Rewards platform.

Globe postpaid customers who renew or upgrade their mobile plans can enjoy bill rebates of P1,500 or P2,500 by applying for and receiving approval for a Security Bank credit card. The promo is available across all Globe stores and the Globe online shop until Dec. 31.

Eric Tanbauco, head of Globe’s consumer mobile business, said Globe is committed to go beyond telco to provide innovative solutions for their customers.

“This partnership with Security Bank allows us to do just that, by giving our loyal postpaid subscribers access to exclusive banking information, products and rewards that complement their digital lifestyle,” he said.

“We believe that by combining our strengths in telecommunications and digital services with Security Bank’s expertise in financial products, we can create a truly differentiated and rewarding experience for our customers,” Tanbauco added.

The partnership builds on the existing collaboration between Security Bank and Globe. In November 2023, the two companies signed a two-year agreement to combat financial crime and identity theft, working together on data-sharing initiatives for fraud investigations.

The agreement is in compliance with the National Privacy Commission and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
