MANILA, Philippines — Aboitiz-led Union Bank of the Philippines has rolled out the first 5G-powered “Banking on Wheels,” allowing clients to conveniently and comfortably avail of banking services like balance inquiries, withdrawals, bills payments, funds transfer and even account opening.
The airconditioned banking kiosk in a mobile van is scheduled to go to various predetermined locations to provide banking services powered by higher bandwidth and faster internet connection through 5G technology, 20 times faster than other networks available.
UnionBank chief technology and transformation officer Henry Aguda said the bank is in constant pursuit of ways to bring the bank closer to its customers as aligned with its advocacy to promote financial inclusion.
State-run Government Service and Insurance System pensioners welcomed “Banking on Wheels” during its launch in Commonwealth Ave. in Quezon City to augment the automated teller machines during the release of GSIS pension payments.
